The Vanderbilt Republic: Art From The Heart

Four prints from my month spent at the Anandawan Leprosy Colony in India during 2005 were showcased by The Vanderbilt Republic Foundation at a fundraiser titled 'Art From The Heart' at Calumet Galleries on September 10th. The space was impressive and timing coincided with NYC Fashion Week, which lended itself to an sizeable turnout and lively crowd.

Special Thanks to Matt Bogosian, Calumet Galleries, Root Digital, my date Kristen Ettinger, St. Lawrence University, and Baba Amptey for allowing me to stay at Anandawan in the first place

Derek Seurynck Stays On My Couch

Derek Seurynck (Nixon, Vans, Reqwuim Design) spent the weekend with us in Brooklyn where we had the opportunity to hitup The Banks and a couple other iconic skate spots in the Financial District. Derek as always brought an unprecedented level of professionalism as he dominated wall-rides and concrete transitions throughout lower Manhattan. All images are featured in the book 'Alex Verron Shoots People Jumping'

Special thanks to my Art Director Will Blonna and Bliss Magazine for hopefully running this story

NGSE Monterey Bay

I spent three weeks at the University of California Monterey Bay teaching a Travel Digital Photography course for National Geographic Student Expeditions. This was my second course taught for Nat Geo, the last being a three week course in India. Monterey Bay was amazing, some of the highlights of which where finally seeing a breaching Humpback Whale, a behind the scenes tour of the Monterey Bay Aquarium, a moonlight tour of the Big Sur lighthouse, the sprawling artichoke farms of Central California, a ferry ride from San Francisco to Sausalito, and finally meeting the founder of Save The Whales, Maris Sidenstecker. Through the efforts of Kip Evens we were able to pair up with Google Earth & NOAA, so myself and students are now able to upload and donate content for Google Ocean in an effort to educate and preserve oceanic awareness.

Thanks: Tierney Thys. Kip Evens, Deb Harris, Putney Student Travel, National Geographic, my co-leader Peter Robbins, Briana, Jamie, Steven Brown, Kim, all Students, Save The Whales, NOAA, Google Earth, and Charolette Wick

The images posted are from a series titled 'How To Take Photos That Make You Look Like a Tourist', and are the meals served at USCMB. They are intended invoke nostalgia of adolescence and a comedic look on my dietary decisions.
